Estates of Serenity Layout Map Satellite Image of Estates of Serenity
Estates of Serenity, also known as Marion I.O.O.F. is located at 1101 S. Lincoln Blvd in Marion Indiana. I believe it was started in the early 1800s. There are thousands and thousands of interments in this cemetery. It is my favorite cemetery by far. It has tombstones of many different types and also has private crypts as well as larger public crypts. This cemetery seems totally surreal to me as I walk through it. Perhaps it is because of all of the trees here. I could visit this one every day.
Negatives: This cemetery is located near the bad part of town. There has been a lot of vandalism in this cemetery. All crypts are locked and inaccessable to the public.

Gardens of Memory  Layout Map Satellite Image of Gardens of Memory
Gardens of Memory is located at Highway 218 and State Road 9 in Huntington County, Indiana. This cemtery is divided into gardens. The names of the gardens are Good Shepherd, Garden of Hymns, Garden of Devotion, Last Supper, Masonic, Garden of Peace, Garden of Prayer, Garden of Gethsemane, Garden of Scripture, Garden of Ten Commandments and Garden of Angels. My favorite garden is the Garden of Ten Commandments. It seems more peaceful than the others. It is located at the northeast section of the cemetery.
Each garden has its own statues. Some of my favorite statues are the one of Christ near the south end, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the Garden of Scriptures, a "temple" shaped statue that is also in this garden, and thrones which are in the Masonic Garden.
There is also a well air-conditioned walk-in crypt that is always open to the public. Funeral services can be held in this crypt. There is a new crypt which is being built on the north side of the cemetery. It appears that is is going to be another walk-in crypt or perhaps just a roofed crypt.
Negatives: All stones in this cemetery are required to be flat so the lawn can be easily mowed. Most of the stones have only the year of birth and year of death instead of the actual dates and finally, this cemetery is not located in any town, but in the middle of nowhere, between Marion and Huntington.

To show our appreciation for the Gardens of Memory webmasters taking our photos from findagrave and using them on their new website, we have posted the transcription of the cemetery. It has also been submitted to interment.net.

Grant Memorial Park Layout Map Satellite Image of Grant Memorial Park
Grant Memorial Park is located at 26th Street and Western Avenue (also known as the bypass) across from Big R in Marion, Indiana. It is one of three of the main cemeteries in Marion. It is currently square and almost full, as is Estates of Serenity. The stones in this cemetery are all nearly flat. There are no upright stones, but yet they are not ground-level as Gardens of Memory has. Some of the stones here are actually etched with photos of the deceased. This cemetery has just gotten a new walk-in mausoleum as well.
Another thing that I like about this cemetery is the fence along with the trees that seperate the cemetery and the highway as well as 26th Street. It's the first thing I noticed about this cemetery in fact.
Negatives: This cemetery is located next to the highway so there is a lot of traffic noise while visiting this cemetery, especially if you are visiting graves nearer to the highway. Also, graves near the highway become totally submerged in water when there is a heavy rain and there is flooding in the Grant County area.
It is hard to turn left onto the highway after visiting this cemetery due to all of the highway traffic.

Resurrection Cemetery Satellite Image of Resurrection Catholic Cemetery
Resurrection Cemetery is located at 7201 South Archer Avenue in Justice, Illinois. It is one of the largest cemeteries in the midwest, being the final resting place of more than 150,000 souls. I was able to visit this cemetery in November of 2012. I found it to be interesting because of its many gothic-style stones, along with the diversity of the names engraved on them. I initially heard of this cemetery in 1994 when I caught an episode of Unsolved Mysteries which featured Chicago's most famous ghost, Resurrection Mary. It is believed that Resurrection Mary is the ghost of a young woman named Mary Bregovy. Apparently Miss Bregovy was killed in a car accident in 1934. It is said that her ghost roams Archer Avenue along side of the cemetery at night.
Negatives: There is a lot of heavy traffic in the surrounding area.

Halderman Cemetery
Halderman Cemetery in Wabash County, Indiana has got to be one of the neatest, if not the neatest cemetery I've ever been to. I have never seen a cemetery like this before, nor have I again since visiting this one. The cemetery reminds me more of a garden or a work of art than a cemetery. Apparently the property was owned by a Mr. Halderman who allowed anyone to be buried there that wished to be. Over the years, the cemetery deteriorated due to lack of care. The stones were removed in the 1950's and grouped together here in this cemetery. it's almost as if this little cemetery is dedicated to the stones rather than the people they used to memorialize. Some stones are mounted into the brick walls while others resemble yard ornaments that neighbor a nearby stone pathway. There are even a few that are elevated above ground level behind small retaining walls. Needless to say, this is not your typical cemetery. If you find yourself in the North Manchester area, it's definitely worth a visit!
Negatives: It is unknown as to where exactly the bodies are buried.
